Testimonials

I had been doing yoga on and off for a few years prior to meeting Tammy. Once I had attended her classes I found myself resonating more and more with her style of yoga as well as the spirituality components she shares during her classes. From then on, my love grew stronger and stronger for yoga. She gave me encouragement that no one else ever had before. I began attending local retreats of hers, which then expanded into unforgettable travel retreats. She encouraged me to get my yoga teaching certification and I am now continuing to write new yoga teaching chapters in my life in an intentional way with aspirations to share yoga with the world. Bringing light to people’s hearts and souls, just as Tammy brought light to mine. As much as I may try, my words fall short when it comes to explaining the depth of impact she has had on my life.

The simplest way I have found to explain her teaching is, “Tammy’s yoga is like ice cream, once you’ve had a taste of her teaching, you keep coming back for more”.

Love Always,

Jessica

I met Tammy and Yoga while in a dark place in my life. As a former athlete, I had never experienced a serious injury that left me immobile. I am a very active person that runs, swims, basketball, strength train, etc. I suffered one of the most serious knee injuries one could endure, and all I could do was sit at home and go to rehab. I figured I would try Yoga as it would be something very easy to do. I was humbled by Tammy during the very first practice as this was the hardest physical activity I had ever endured in my life. I could barely pick myself off the floor after the first practice. I remember Tammy explaining to me that I should consider coming to the Surrender class. In my mind, it sounded great and less intensive, but in my heart, I would be running from this challenge. I have endured two-a-day football training camps at the college level and still place the challenge of each Yoga practice at the top of the difficulty meter. The motivating atmosphere that Tammy creates is so inspiring, and it takes a hold of your life outside of the practice. I can truly admit that I have become a better person after the practice found me and I have so much more room to grow. I have come to realize that it is a marathon and not a sprint, so I am constantly adding to become the person that I strive to be. Thank you Tammy for all that you do. The compassion that you expel and the motivation that you provide are priceless.

Namaste,

Randall

Tammy had met me in a place of darkness and shown me the light to move forward by surrendering to hope and joy in my life. Her words remind you how to live the right way starting with yourself. Her practice teaches you to look forward to every breath, pose, person and every moment. I feel more spiritually polished with her wisdom, drawing attention inward and allowing the mind, body and spirit to come into true alignment and balance. She also makes everyone feel welcome and comfortable. She is truly one of a kind.

I am not a yoga regular. In fact, I may only attempt yoga twice every few years, if that. However, it is something I have been thinking of adding to my repertoire for some time; I just haven’t been motivated to act on it. That is until a friend invited me to the yoga retreat weekend in Michigan. It was an incredible experience.  The weekend was devoted to making connections, being grateful and forgiving (ourselves and others). There were many activities: yoga, meditation, hiking, swimming and even a bonfire dance party! Although I am in my infancy regarding yoga, I never felt anything but love, acceptance and encouragement throughout the entire weekend. That is the atmosphere that Tammy creates.  We were all on different parts of our journey, and Tammy just constantly encouraged us to do our best, to not give up, and to lift each other up. I learned a lot of things, some of which I have already incorporated into my daily life. I hope to gradually add more and more of what I learned as time progresses. It was truly an amazing experience, and I highly recommend it.

Coincidences just do not happen. But yoga does. It comes and finds you when you seek out your intentions to the universe one day for growth spiritually, mentally, and physically. More than a year ago, I was in the locker room when I met amazing Tammy one Sunday evening and we just clicked that I decided to come every Sunday to her Surrender class. Since then, I fell in love with yoga. Yoga found me. And I immediately enrolled for the YTT, the Lifetime yoga teacher training the following spring, I made it happen no matter what even though I was still new to practicing it. But I was drawn immediately. Little did I know that this journey was just waiting for me to look within even more than I thought I was before joining the yoga journey. Yoga teaches you that you have a lot more within you, you have an entire universe that is just ready to be explored and shared with the world. Every investment in this journey, be it time, effort, and finances, is all worth it. You are simply investing in your future self. The best version of yourself. And the best part is, you can start now. Just take a chance, and try one class. It will not leave you astray. Even if you did not commit fully, you will be touched somehow. That’s how yoga can change your life. It is just a choice. But it can turn out to be your life-changing moment whether you expect it or not. And if you decide to join this journey, get ready for a lot of awakening. Lots of it. I can’t thank Tammy more and the amazing teachers at Lifetime who make it all happen and put everything into where it is needed. Just beautiful. True and raw.

A life-changing experience only comes around a couple of times in a lifetime. I had the privilege of experiencing one over the course of several months entering my yoga practice. Upon meeting Tammy, I had very little self-confidence and self-motivation to practice yoga let alone get to the gym. She would always assure me that yoga would help, even though I DID NOT WANT TO GO. Why would I? I didn’t feel comfortable in a class full of people I didn’t know. Tammy always made me feel comfortable and before I knew it I broke out of my shell and was practicing with her multiple times a week. Yoga and Tammy have changed my life and I am forever grateful.

Tammy is a kind and beautiful soul. Her yoga teaching style is thoughtful, yet demanding. She definitely challenges her students to reach their potential, both physically and emotionally. One of my favorite yoga teachers of all time, I highly recommend Tammy.

With the practice of yoga, meditation and attending Tammy’s yoga classes for the past 4 years has been life-changing for me!
I’m the kind of individual that always strives to be a high achiever in my career, school and with my personal life. I kept wondering through the years why was I facing so many challenges in my marriage. I’m a good person and I was a “good wife” to him that ultimately ended in a divorce. With that being said with the power of prayer, the practice of Tammy’s yoga classes and meditation has taught me to listen to my instincts, and slow my thinking down to a frequency of calmness. That calmness I cultivated while in the flow of practice and closing my eyes on the mat with Tammy’s beautiful voice echoing in my thoughts changed my life for a higher good and has taught me to instill a higher spiritual mantra for myself now. I’m a better human being from learning these practices.

My life has changed profoundly from practicing Yoga, which has been about 8 years, most of which has been under the influence of Tammy, who has been my primary Yoga instructor for 7 or more of those years. I have consistently attended her classes, at least twice weekly for all that time. I have also attended multiple workshops that she has put on at Lifetime Fitness. In addition, I took private Yoga lessons from Tammy for over 2 years.
It probably goes without saying, that I find Tammy to be a truly amazing Yoga teacher and person. She has been a tremendous inspiration to me and has taught me so much for improving mind, body and soul.
Tammy is from India, the origin of Yoga where she was raised practicing Yoga. As such, Tammy offers a truly unique perspective and genuine approach to her Yoga classes. She has taught me how much more there is to Yoga than just the asanas and physical aspects. She always emphasizes how important the breath is and that the most important thing in Yoga is the connection to your inner self. Every class, private or workshop she teaches is unique, inspiring, full of passion and full of energy. I cannot say enough good things about Tammy.
I recently conveyed to Tammy, that as long as she is available, and I am able, I will be attending her Yoga classes indefinitely.

Tammy,
Thank you for helping me more than you may know. I sit idle at a desk for long hours at the office and the stretching during yoga keeps my long-term back issues from flaring up. If I skip yoga I live with nearly constant pain and your class is just the right medicine for me.
And Thank you for all the amazing adjustments and massage during my weekly yoga class…I feel the stress melt away when you add in this bonus! Your class is truly one of the biggest highlights of my week.
… so looking forward to my next yoga class to get through my week!

Have a great week,
Mark Collins

Tammy was the first yoga teacher I practiced with and ever since my love for yoga only grew more & more. I was put in a very tough situation where I couldn’t be with my family , no phone , no connection to the real world and what got my through that was yoga. I learned how to control my mind and stay peaceful, and to breathe through this hard situation breath by breath. Before I knew it was out of the situation and back to my normal life. Yoga has taught me not matter how hard things are they don’t last forever. & I thank Tammy for having such great energy & motivating me to continue on the mat.

Tammy is an amazing yoga teacher. Her classes always have a positive feeling the moment you walk in the room. She is very knowledgeable of different style Yoga she teaches and each of them are inspiring for the beginners to the advanced yogi’s. Her classes are mentally and physically challenging. It has made me aware of the importance of deep breathing and how it connects you with moving in and out of poses easily. Her practice has helped me use the yoga techniques I use in class to also help me outside of class. It has helped me deal with everday life challenges we are faced with in todays world. Ive learned to be more patient, forgiving and kinder to myself and others and simply LOVE deeper. Tammy has inspired me so much that I have introduced my 11 year old son Giovanni to her Surrender classes. We practice together which makes the experience even more Great. He attends surrender class once a week. He loves to meditate at home since taking her class. It has inspired my son to keep coming back to the mat no matter what age you are. It has helped him with anxiety issues he use to suffer from that he no longer gets since practicing Tammys surrender classes on a weekly basis. It also has helped him realize the importance of breathing, staying calm and staying focused in & out of school. It has showed him the importance of breathing deeply thru stretching in poses thats helped him become better in sports hes involved in. I have also started bringing my younger sister to her classes and we practice together & realize that we are stronger sisters together.
Im So Grateful and Blessed to have her as my yoga teacher.

I have been practicing yoga for almost 3 years and on a personal development journey for about 7 years. In my 3 years of practicing, I have been fortunate enough to experience much different yoga flows from many different instructors. Tammy’s classes have always been different and I have made her classes a part of my lifestyle. When I first entered Tammy’s class, I immediately felt safe and inspired by her presence and energy. As soon as she closes the studio door, she automatically makes me feel connected to a higher source and to the other yogis. In the past year, I have faced many challenges personally and professionally.
Tammy’s teaching methods in yoga (breathing techniques, postures, quotes, music genre, motivation) have propelled me to overcome the challenges I have faced and still face to this day. I have learned the power of gratitude and patience. Recently, I have been encouraging my loved ones to try her class and feel a shift of consciousness mentally and emotionally.
My favorite saying by Tammy is, “Don’t just go through it, grow through it.”
Tammy, thank you so much for bringing so much light to my Sunday afternoons and Friday mornings over the years at Lifetime. I wish you infinite blessings along your journey in life. “May the in light me, honor the light in you.”

Hi Tammy, I had been practicing yoga on and off for several years, but once I found Tammy’s class, I practiced steadily each week. Her humble nature and intensely positive energy are unmatched! The benefits both mental and physical I have experienced led me to bring Tammy into my school as a means to support the health of my teachers. I also practice with my family at home because I have seen firsthand the incredible benefits yoga can bring to my life and I want to share this positive energy and love with the world!

Tammy is such an inspiring yoga teacher. I have been taking her classes for over a year, and feel amazing every time I take her class. She has taught me how to breathe during those edgy points in a certain pose. Her adjustments during a pose have also shown me how to work toward getting in the pose. My sister Nancy, was the one who brought me to one of Tammy’s heated vinyasa classes and ever since then I have been hooked!! Tammy definitely brings out the team in my sister and me. In her class, my sister and I give beautiful examples of our own unique flow to play with. Tammy is there for us when she notices if we aren’t breathing and reminds us to come to our breath. Since taking her classes I am able to step back in difficult situations at work and come to my breath with such ease. I am forever grateful that my sister introduced me to her she has brought out the true yogis that my sister and I have become.

I have had the privilege of knowing Tammy for over a decade. We first met at a very difficult time in my life and her counsel has served me well consistently since then. Her unmatched knack for providing value to each individual student while serving an entire class is unmatched in the Detroit area. While her classes range from highly intense to predominately meditative, no one leaves her presence without feeling a personal engagement with the content and the instructor. I cannot recommend her courses and individual counsel more. Thank you, Tammy.
